Have old junk to get rid of? Follow these steps to make a free Junk Pickup appointment:

  1. See the list of acceptable junk items.
  2. Enter your address in the Residential Services Lookup map to find your Recycling Company (they will pick up your junk).
  3. Call the recycling company to schedule your appointment. Have ready the list of items you want to get rid of.
  4. Set out your items up to 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.

Important Junk Pickup program information:

  • All Junk Pickup items must be generated in your home and not brought from elsewhere for disposal.
  • Follow the list of acceptable Junk Pickup items and set out instructions. This is important for items such as carpet, scrap lumber or appliances.
  • If your item is too big for your trash cart but not on this list, call your recycling collection company for disposal instructions.
  • San Jose collection companies do not accept bulky items at their local facilities.  Call to make a Junk pickup appointment.
  • Have Construction and Demolition (C&D) material? Choose from the list of authorized haulers to collect C&D material.
  • Visit recyclestuff.org to find a hauler or debris box service.
  • Illegal dumping is a crime!  Report and prevent illegal dumping.
  • San José Environmental Services RAPID team has temporarily suspended the collection of Illegal Dumping. San José Department of Transportation will continue to collect priority one items (illegal dumping blocking roadways, etc).
