June 2020 update: The County of Santa Clara has resumed HHW operations, allowing residents to schedule free drop-off appointments. However, with reduced daily appointments available, expect appointment dates to be further out than normal.

PLEASE NOTE:

Remember to never pour leftover materials down the sink, toilet, or storm drain or put them in the garbage.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) includes items such as batteries, paint, household cleaners, and propane tanks. These materials require separate disposal to prevent harm to you and the environment.

Curbside collection of used motor oil is available for residential homes, townhomes and mobile home parks. Find out how to arrange a used motor oil pickup.

THE LOCATIONS BELOW MAY STILL BE TAKING MATERIALS.  PLEASE CHECK WITH THEM TO CONFIRM THAT SERVICES ARE STILL BEING OFFERED.

Free Take-Back Locations:

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) are materials that require separate disposal to prevent harm to you and the environment. These corrosive, flammable or toxic materials can accumulate in your garage or yard and endanger you, your family and the environment. Remember to never pour leftover hazardous materials down the sink, toilet or storm drain, or put them in the garbage. You can properly dispose of all HHW for free by making a drop-off appointment or visiting a take-back location.
